Your Excellency:
Topic: Five Iranian soldiers taken hostage by “Jaish al-Adl” in Pakistan
I am writing to bring to Your Excellency’s attention the need for urgent United Nations’ involvement in the hostage crisis created by the Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice), an Iranian Sunni Muslim rebel group in the Sistan-Baluchistan province of Pakistan. The group has taken credit for kidnapping five Iranian border patrol guards and taking them into Pakistan. Based on recent confirmed news, one of the hostages by the name of Jamshid Danaei-Fard has already been executed by the hostage takers.
This urgent situation demands prompt action from the United Nations. The lives of four innocent people are in jeopardy. We cannot count on the current government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to free these soldiers or take other definitive action. I therefore urge the United Nations to help resolve this crisis.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Warm regards,
Reza Pahlavi
